Anyone that attended mLearnCon 2012 can tell you there were a few things that stood out.

One was the overall buzz about the Tin Can API. A handful of companies are building technologies that take advantage of this new evolution of SCORM. Float was very excited to have launched our new social learning application, Tappestry, which uses Tin Can. It went live just in time for the conference. But enough about us.

Out in the hallway at mLearnCon in San Jose was a line of companies, dubbed Tin Can Alley, that is all on board and supporting this effort. I sat down and talked to two guys from one of those companies, Saltbox Services. Saltbox has created a cloud learning record store or LRS. An LRS is a service that can record, track and analyze your data with beautiful analytics for all learning activities.

Ali Shahrazad and Russell Duhon spent their time talking with attendees about the opportunities that Tin Can bring us.

If you are not familiar Tin Can, you should also check out our blog post and interviews from Learning Solutions 2012.

Jeff Tillett has been working with computers and Internet technologies for nearly twenty years starting as a Graphic Designer and Web Developer. A survivor of the Internet boom, Jeff assisted many startups to successfully build business and ecommerce ventures. His first involvement in instructional design was as a developer for a distance learning Internet start-up. There Jeff and his team crafted a custom LMS as well as all of the content that went in it. Discovering he had a passion and knack for learning design, Jeff has worked for a number of companies as an Interactive Learning Developer and Instructional Designer including T-Mobile USA and Microsoft. At T-Mobile, Jeff lead a group known as the Innovation Team that advocated and piloted emerging learning technologies for the organization. There he built expertise in mobile delivery and design and bring that knowledge to Float as a Mobile Learning Strategist.
